The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has called on the president-elect, General Muhammadu Buhari. (Rtd) to make welfare of Nigerian citizens the priority of his government as soon as he takes over on
May 29.
President of the association, Comrade Ali Wali in a congratulatory message to General Buhari over his victory at the March 28 election urged him to hit the ground running and roll out plans to bring back Nigerian economy on track.
He said that though there are arduous tasks before the in-coming President, he must ensure that the standard of living of the ordinary Nigerian who fought for his success at the poll must be improved.
Comrade Wali, who described General Buhari’s success as the fruit of resilience and determination also pleade with him to focus on the nation’s education sector which according to him is the bedrock of success by any nation.
He said, “We want to on behalf of Nigerian students congratulate the president-elect and peoples president, General Muhammadu Buhari for this victory at the last election.
“Your victory is no doubt the result of your self belief, determination, resilience and above of all your love for your country.
“We know the task ahead are many and challenging but we know you and your in-coming team are up to the task. We want to use this medium to charge you to make the welfare of Nigerians your priority as you take over the mantle of leadership of this country on May 29.
“Our economy which is in a comatose must be revived and the standard of living of the common man on the street who queued in the sun and rain to give you this mandate must be improved.”
